Question:

Why did the One [God] become many?

Many forms, names of God are only in the imagination of the Human Mind and are illusory manifestations. Actually God is One always. This is because Human Mental temperaments are different. Based on this, understandings are also different. It is like several blind people trying to make out what an elephant is. The one who happened to touch it's legs concluded that an elephant is like a pillar. The one who touched it's belly said it is like a wall. The one who touched the tail said it is like a rope, and so on... The Mind's (Origin) Ultimate Truth is recognised as God. Mind is to God like the Sun's ray is to the Sun, like the droplet of the Ocean is to the Ocean. In every religion Prayers and Sadhana are taught to make the Mind concentrated and single pointed, to make it go introverted and merge with it's origin, God. This is the recommended Goal for peace and liberation.

This is why no one concept will be acceptable to all in this world. You may have your own faith but Mind is the same to all.
